altContinuing a two-year long tradition at the Embassy of Italy, on Wednesday, February 8, Italians in DC and the Italian Cultural Institute launched the 2012 Italian cinema program with the movie "The Man Who Will Come" by Bologna film director Giorgo Diritti

This year's program will offer several contemporary movies such as the one by Diritti, alternated by some classical ones. We made this choice so that Italians and Italophiles in Washington, DC could stay updated on the Italian movie scene. In order to reinforce our connection with Italian contemporary culture, when possible, Italian in DC will try to get in touch with the fiilm director of the movie we are showing, asking him to send a recorded greeting for the public.

"The Man Who Will Come" inspired a special collaboration with ExBo, the network of people from Bologna worldwide, who contacted Diritti and obtained from him a greeting for the public in Washington, DC. The greeting was especially appreciated as it was quickly recorded as soon as the film drector came back to Bologna from the Brazilian Amazon.

Wednesday night was even more special and bolognese thanks to the video greeting that the mayor of Bologna, Virginio Merola, wanted to send us for the showing of "The Man Who Will Come".
